teacher pride

I love teaching. I know I’ve written that very sentence here before, and I know I’ll write it again. Putting it down here reminds me that the classroom is my passion, that my students have changed my life, that their words have the power to change other people’s lives, as well.

This is what I’m celebrating today: the power of my students to send their words out into the world and to change the world, reader by reader.

I am immensely proud of my two students, Mary Hill and Prinna Boudreau, who are both semi-finalists for the Notes & Words Essay Contest. There were 220 submissions, and I am glowing that they are among the top eighteen. Now, I have to ask you all to go read their stunning and raw pieces and “Like” them on Facebook. The essays that receive the most “likes” will move on to the final round of judging.

Congratulations to Mary and Prinna! I’m so proud of both of you!

  1. Thank you Kate!

And, wanted to let you know that your book was delivered with all the held mail when I returned from vacation. I can’t wait to dive into it, hopefully tonight!
